The Cubs have been one of the biggest losers this season versus the baseball probabilities and it could not get any better as the squad had to place their leading pitcher on the DL. 
Chicago placed Carlos Silva on the disabled list on Monday, one day after an abnormal heart rate compelled Chicago’s leading pitcher from Sunday’s game versus Colorado. Silva was leading the squad in wins and ERA, making him one of the few bright spots on the Cubs this season versus the baseball lines.

It is possible that he might return for Chicago this year since part of the difficulty for Silva could have been the altitude in Colorado. Before being removed from the game versus Colorado, Silva only played four batters on Sunday. He was tagged with the loss because James Russell was awful in relief and allowed both of the inherited runners to get runs.
Just how negative has it been for the Cubs recently versus the baseball probabilities? They headed back home on a five-game losing streak after they were swept by the Rockies. They were 1-5 on the road trip and fell 13 competitions under .500. The Cubs allowed 45 in their five-game losing streak and 31 runs in the three competitions in Colorado.
There is not plenty of hope with the Cubs now that they have traded away Ted Lilly and Ryan Theriot. The Cubs are 23rd in the MLB in offense at 4.23 runs per game. Despite the fact that they can at times hit the home run as they are 11th in the league in home runs, they haven’t yet done much right on offense. The team’s pitching has been terrible for the most part this season versus the baseball lines. They’re 21st in the league in ERA which is relatively difficult to believe considering they are 5th in the league in quality starts and 3rd in strikeouts.
Needless to say, in the more than a century since the squad was founded, the situation with the Cubs when you bet on baseball games hasn’t changed much.
