Sportsbook Has Surprise Teams As Competitors

When you look at the Major League Baseball rankings and get ready to make a bet on baseball at the sportsbook you will notice some surprise teams.

Each year you will find shocks in baseball and some of these teams carry on their success vs the sports book online odds all year. Which teams are likely to carry on their early season success this year?

At least one team with a loser history from the previous season made the playoffs the next year in 14 of the last 15 years. You can find five teams that look like they could make the playoffs after losing last year and could remain in the hunt. The San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets and Oakland Athletics are all in the mix. What are the chances for each of these teams?

San Diego is a huge surprise to close to everyone this season. This Padre team was supposed to be terrible and in last place. They happen to be in 1st place instead close to all season. Might they remain there? The answer is likely not. They have the fifth-worst offense in the league and that just isn’t going to cut it. San Diego has to progress their hitting if they are to remain in the hunt.

The Cincinnati Reds are also a huge surprise this season but they have the hitting to remain there. The Reds are at the top of the league in runs and home runs. They have hammered the weaklings of their division, Chicago, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Houston. The question is whether they can handle St. Louis. The Reds have a lot of one-run victories and that fortune might run out before the season is over.

The Oakland Athletics play in a weak division and they happen to be a big surprise. That is one reason they could hang around. Nonetheless they basically do not have most of a history of progressing quite far in the season. More than once they’ve gotten 1st place in the AL West division, simply to lose immediately in the AL Division Series. They’ve made 23 playoff appearances since 1905. It’s not precisely an outstanding history.

The Angels have a fairly better record than the Oakland Athletics, having even won a World Series in 2002. Nonetheless, they’re not as excellent as last season, when they advanced in the playoffs before losing the AL Championship Series to the Yankees.

From just three present MLB franchises who have never played in the World Series, the Texas Rangers are one of them. And they just cannot pitch this season.

Toronto has excellent pitching and powerful hitting, nonetheless they play in the American League East. You might like their chances if they weren’t stuck in a division with New York and Tampa Bay. But they are likely to miss the playoffs again since they’re in the AL East.

Philadelphia has had trouble, which is the sole reason the New York Mets are even in the discussion in any way. The Mets have Johan Santana and Mike Pelfrey. The lineup is inconsistent and unless Carlos Beltran returns and is excellent, this team is going to fall.
