Angels Turn to Their Star in Friday Baseball Wagering
The Angels will send Jered Weaver to the mound against the Colorado Rockies in a game on Friday where they’re preferred in baseball wagering.
It is the 1st match of a 3-game series between the two clubs and the 1st match of a six-game road trip for the Colorado Rockies. Weaver has been quite great this season and the Los Angeles Angels are usually preferred in MLB wagering at the sportsbook when he is on the mound.
Weaver has a 3.04 ERA and is 7-3 on the season.. Last time out he went seven innings against the Cubs and allowed only two hits while striking out eleven. He is topping the league in strikeouts. Weaver is 2-1 in six starts at home with a 1.85 ERA this season.
Jered Weaver has played with the Los Angeles Angels for his complete professional career in baseball. He was drafted in the 1st round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft from California State University. He made his MLB debut on May 27, 2006 starting against the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched seven shutout innings and struck out five.
Jeff Francis is set to go for the rockies on Friday night. He’s 2-2 with a 3.43 ERA this season. He did not get a decision against Milwaukee, though he pitched well last time out. It was his 3rd straight outstanding start. He has pitched once in his career against the Los Angeles Angels, permitting two runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision.
Francis was a 1st round pick by the rockies in the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft. Due to arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder in February 2009, he missed all of the 2009 season. He was also compelled to decline an invitation to play for Team Canada in the 2009 World Baseball Classic by that surgery. He came back May 16 of this year and posted a full seven innings in his 1st match, allowing 1 run and striking out four.
Los Angeles has won seven of the last 10 against the rockies. The clubs played in Anaheim last season and the Los Angeles Angels won two of the 3. Two of those 3 matches went over the total. The clubs also met in Anaheim in 2006 when the Rockies took two of 3. Two of those matches went over the total.
The Rockies have a losing record on the road this season. Too little offense has been part of their issue. In hitting this season, the Rockies are below average. Pitching has saved the rockies to date this season as they’re 5th in the league in ERA headed by Ubaldo Jimenez who has simply been outstanding.
The Angels are trying to remain with Texas in the American League West. The Angels have had a concern with pitching. The starting rotation overall has struggled, though Weaver has been sound. The Angels are hitting the ball though as they’re 10th in the league in runs obtained and that offense has retained them in most matches. The Angels do have some offensive worries though since they lost Kendry Morales to injury.
